Pick me!

Why should people adopt pets ?

6-8 million cats and dogs are in the care of the humane societies in the United States. From those 3-4 million are euthanized, that number is probably even higher because not all the shelters have to report all of their euthanizations.
The first thing people need to do before getting any type of pet is to make sure they are ready for them. Yes, kittens and puppies are very cute, but they do grow up into big dogs and cute little kittens are necessarily so cute when they grow up. It takes a lot of work that goes with them. If you do choose to adopt a pet you will receive a decrease in stress an increases in your physical health. Also it has been scientifically proven to improve your mental health as well. There is a saying that goes around and it says “who adopted who” because most the times the adopted pets help the owner out so much with their mental and physical health that they fell the pet as actually adopted them instead of vice versa.

  1. Great start for your blog, i like the saying you noted "who adopted who" a friend I know found himself alone, children grown & off on thier own. He found that having cats around was good for filling that void left by the children. It got to the point that he now has too many cats in his home. I think there are studies out there that prove animals are great companions to elderly, mentally challenged and the socially in-active these days.
